Orban Wallace is a documentary filmmaker dedicated to telling human-centred stories that are socially and environmentally driven. His work spans feature documentaries, short films, and creative commercial content, with a distinctive cinematic style that brings authenticity, improvisation, and emotional depth to every project.

For over a decade, Orban has directed bold, character-led films. A hands-on filmmaker, he’s known for immersing himself in the heart of the story — self-shooting when needed, and building deep trust with contributors, often in complex or sensitive environments. His documentary approach extends into his commercial and music video work, blending real-world grit with visual storytelling craft. Orban has also worked with a number of global brands and artists over the years including The Guardian, Redbull, Nike, JBL, V&A, Universal Music and Deezer.

Orban’s debut feature, Another News Story, turned the lens on the media during the 2015 refugee crisis. The film premiered at Karlovy Vary and went on to screen at over 30 international festivals, including IDFA, London, and Glasgow. It received critical acclaim for its fresh take on a global issue and was shortlisted for Best International Feature at the 2018 Grierson Awards.

His second feature documentary, Robin, co-created with producer Kat Mansoor and Charlene Whitehead, explores the life and legacy of filmmaker Robin Whitehead. When her unfinished film was discovered a decade after her death, the project became a deeply personal journey for her family and collaborators, navigating grief, memory, and creativity. It is still in production.

Orban’s third feature, Our Land about the UK's land access debate, was supported by BFI Doc Society, produced by Rebecca Wolff, Charlie Phillips and Leo Smith. Premiered at Sheffield Doc fest and DOC NYC ahead of UK theatrical run.

He is the co-founder of Gallivant Film, a London and Budapest-based production company focused on international documentary storytelling. Gallivant is currently developing a slate of new feature and short documentaries.

Orban is a Grierson Nominee, BIFA Springboard 2020 alum, part of BAFTA Crew 2021, and has received mentorship through the Grierson Trust and BFI Doc Society.
His goal is to continue crafting timely, impactful stories across both documentary commercials and fiction.
